“I would never take my child to the funeral. She doesn’t understand anyway.”
“I figure I'll just take the pictures down of Nana for a while. Being reminded of her will only upset my son more.”
“My teenager doesn’t talk about his dad anymore. I’m so glad he is over that.”
“I’m afraid I’m gonna say something wrong so I won’t say anything at all."
Can you relate to some of these comments about the way that children grieve? You’re not alone.

What makes us watch spelling bees? Is it the enthusiasm and nervousness of the spellers that attracts our attention? Or, is it a hope for their success? (Of course, few of us would be able to spell many of the words that these sixth, seventh and eighth-graders can.)
On Jan. 29, witf played host to its third-annual Central PA Spelling Bee. About 150 spellers representing 67 schools from 10 counties participated in a 100-word written test at the Public Media Center. No more than 36 of the top spellers will advance to the Grand Championship Spelling Bee on Feb. 25. The top spellers will be announced right here at 9am on February 3rd.
While competing onstage at the Grand Championship Spelling Bee, spellers will rely on their hours of studying and understanding of a word’s origins to avoid the dreaded bell signaling they are wrong and out.

witf 89.5 FM welcomes Michael Feldman to Harrisburg, PA on Saturday, October 1 for a live performance of his popular program, Whad'Ya Know?, at the historic Forum auditorium on the grounds of the State Capitol Complex in downtown Harrisburg, at 10:30 a.m.
Michael Feldman's Whad'Ya Know? is a two hour comedy/quiz/interview show distributed by PRI, Public Radio International. Currently broadcast on 210+ stations across the United States, the program reaches nearly 1 million listeners every week.
Regular elements of every program include a Whad'Ya Know? Quiz in each hour, Feldman’s foray into the live studio audience to chat with fans and jazz with John Thulin and the Whad’Ya Know? Band. During the hourly Quiz, host and quiz master Michael Feldman invites callers and audience members to test their knowledge from five categories drawn from Feldman's seemingly limitless store of insignificant (but also somehow, important) information.
When taking the show “on the road,” which Feldman does 8 times each year, the program guests and features reflect the hosting community. All The News That Isn’t takes on a local flair, as do Feldman’s interviews with celebrities and regular folks native to the area. Local musicians complete the guest line-up for these fan-favorite “road shows.”
Ticket info is: $40 (100 Level Seating) and $28.50 General Admission.
