Your annual contribution makes it possible for WITF to improve the quality of life in your community through a wide variety of services:
Ready to Learn prepares pre-schoolers for lifelong learning. Last year, WITF trained more than 5,000 Central PA parents and caregivers to use PBS programming as an effective teaching tool. For more information go to WITF Education Services.
Family literacy events bring the joy of reading to more than 10,000 children and parents each year. This outreach involves partnerships with libraries, schools, newspapers, and other businesses and community organizations.
Continuing education for adult learners, including teleconferencing and closed circuit training channels, allowing employees to pursue distance learning opportunities without leaving the work place.
Live and recorded concerts from The Harrisburg Symphony to Market Square Concerts, from Music at Gretna, to the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra we bring the region's finest to you.
Coverage of a rich array of cultural events including a comprehensive event calendar on WITF-FM and in Central PA magazine, plus live broadcasts from Harrisburg's Artsfest, Yorkfest, and more.
Career training opportunities, tours, internships, and career shadowing days for elementary, secondary, and college students, plus training for broadcasters from developing countries through the U.S. Telecommunications Training Institute. For more information go to WITF Internship Opportunities.
Services that enhance the lives of people with physical challenges. WITF-FM provides the "sub-carrier" signal and technical support for the Radio Reading Service operated by Tri-County Association for the Blind, and WITF-TV offers the free Descriptive Video Service, making TV accessible to visually impaired people via narrated descriptions of key visual elements. |
