We've been down this road before. Past Governors and lawmakers have proposed the idea, but there's never been, as Governor Rendell calls it, "political consensus." Some oppose the idea strictly on economic grounds, but others fear a loss of jobs for state-owned liquor store workers, and others question whether private stores would be less stringent about not serving minors.
