Radio Smart Talk for Monday, July 25:
One of the most frustrating aspects of the nation's economic recovery from the Great Recession is that unemployment continues to be a big problem. The nation's unemployment rate was 9.2% in June. Pennsylvania's jobless number was at 7.6%, which was up from 7.4% in May.
Two factors come into play in Pennsylvania -- the service sector lost jobs with the largest declines coming in education and health services. The other was the number of people working or looking for work decreased by 17,000.
On Monday's Radio Smart Talk, we'll examine why jobs have been so slow to return and find out what industries are hiring.

in capitalist societies with boom and bust cycling, when the demand for employment exceeds the supply of employment there is a period of stagflation in which more goods are produced than consumed, and deepening recession with more layoffs, less production---in a downward spiraling repetitive loop--- and the usual final "solution" is
war.
I think the caller was correct who said that changing the way people work....shortening the work week to 32 hours for example.... is necessary to employ more people. But I doubt they will do it in time to make the difference...
Therefore, ....war.
The militarists in DC will be most happy.
It gives reason to their lives.
And it's them ----who are making the rules of the game.
