That Day in September -- Flight 93 family member; ground zero counselor

Written by  Scott LaMar, Director of Radio Smart Talk

Radio Smart Talk for Wednesday, September 7:

That Day in September Radio Smart Talk programs continue with two segments Wednesday.

Gordon Felt is the president of Families of Flight 93.  His oldest brother, Edward was one of the 40 passengers and crew members who lost their lives when the aircraft crashed in a field near Shanksville in Somerset County on the morning of September 11, 2001.  The passengers on Flight 93 are also credited with the striking the first blow in the war on terror when they fought back against the hijackers and kept them from flying into their intended target in Washington D.C.

Felt will reflect on the past 10 years and especially the efforts to create a permanent memorial to the Flight 93 passengers and crew.  The first phase of what will be a national park will be dedicated this weekend.

Also, Major Molly Shotzberger is a counselor with the Salvation Army, who worked at ground zero in New York immediately after September 11.  Major Shotzberger lives in Lebanon County.

This is a really tough topic but I would like to hear thoughts on flight 93 being shot down by our military. there where many eyewitness reports that corroborate this theory. Please comment.

I visited the Pentagon site a couple of weeks after Sept. 11th. There were many people stopping across the highway to show their respects and see the unbelievable damage that had been done. Like Major Shotzberger, I had a similar experience of a couple individuals laughing and joking inappropriately while taking photos like it was just another tourist site in DC. At the time I was just too shocked at this behavior to respond. Now, it saddens me that people are so insensitive or narcissistic (or whatever prompts this type of behavior) that they cannot fully empathize and comprehend the horrific aspect of the situation. Unfortunately, this is one of the 9/11 memories now ingrained in my mind.

Lisa-REALLY???? Just mourn these people that lost their lives. If the military did shoot them down, then they are the ones that saved more lives from being taken.,either way that plane was going down..the people on board didn't have a chance.
