Questions about the latest technology?

Written by  Scott LaMar, Director of Radio Smart Talk

Radio Smart Talk for Wednesday, March 16:

The new Apple i-Pad II has been unveiled. If it seemed to you like they came up with the first one not that long ago, well, welcome to 2011. New gizmos, gadgets, applications and software are constantly offering new ways for us to interact, with and through music, books, personal communication, and yes, even occasionally, face to face interaction (if you can look up from your smart phone to say hi before sending that next text).

On Wednesday's Radio Smart Talk, we'll discuss developments in hardware and software, and online services and applications, from the i-Pad to 3DTV, to whatever new devices have been invented since I began typing this sentence.

We'll talk with Charles Palmer, Associate Professor of Multimedia at Harrisburg University, and WITF's own Joe Ulrich, who in addition to hosting Classical Air, does an enormous amount of audio production for WITF, and keeps tabs on technology trends.

Any questions or thoughts you have about the various kinds of technology at our fingertips today will be welcome.

Where can I find free, unbiased, and accurate reviews for new, competing devices?

Hey Sarah, Joe Ulrich from WITF.

There are a number of sites out there that I think provide fairly unbiased reviews. Here's just a couple links to get you started:

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/electronics-computers/
http://allthingsd.com/
http://www.nytimes.com/pages/technology/personaltech/index.html
http://www.cnet.com/

Personally, I think it is environmentally irresponsible for these companies to continually release newer products with no way to update the older, "obsolete" (often only 1 year old) product. I would like to see more tech companies considering their environmental footprint and come up with more upgradeable products or give large rebates for trade ins.
