The H1N1 flu virus struck Pennsylvania last spring just before the end of the last school year. More than 2,000 cases have been confirmed and 10 people have died since then. The start of school now means young people will be in close proximity to one another again and there is the potential for transmission of the swine flu virus.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health has mounted an education campaign geared toward schools, students and their parents on swine flu symptoms, how to prevent and avoid the virus, and encouraging kids to stay home when they're sick.
