Abraham Lincoln has often been called America’s greatest president for holding the nation together during the Civil War, the most vulnerable moment in our country’s history.
We all grew up learning about President Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, and his famous Gettysburg Address a few months after that pivotal Civil War battle…there are a lot of things you may not know about President Lincoln – including other connections to Pennsylvania.
On this President’s Day, we’ll listen back to a conversation about Lincoln from February 12, 2009 with John Quist, a Professor of History at Shippensburg University, and Dr. Bradley Hoch, author of The Lincoln Trail in Pennsylvania.
Also, we’ll hear highlights from a discussion from May 13, 2009 about a more contemporary Presidency – that of George W. Bush. We'll talk with Dr. Shirley Anne Warshaw about how the Bush White House re-defined the roles of President and Vice President. She’s the author of The Co-Presidency of Bush and Cheney.
We're not taking calls today, but we encourage you to post any comments below.
