I'm sorry I won't be able to listen to your program live, since I'll be working on a hiking trail project.

Let me suggest that folks interested in preserving our wonderful Penns Woods get involved with on of the local hiking and trail maintaining clubs. Here are three that I recommend.

Cumberland Valley Appalachian Trail Club - www.cvatclub.org

Susquehanna Appalachian trail Club - www.satc-hike.org/

York Hiking Club - www.yorkhikingclub.com

All three clubs maintain parts of the world famous Appalachian Trail, as well as other trails, and also offer numerous group hiking opportunities.

I went on the PA DEP website recently and found that they have altered their opening statement to include such things as

"promote advanced energy technology and help the commonwealth's citizens prevent pollution and comply with Pennsylvania's environmental regulations"

yet the PADEP ---since they are involved in the licensing of shale drilling permits for slickwater hydrofracturing ---- does NOT protect the people of PA since no one knows the longer environmental health effects of the drilling/extraction process.
No Environmental Impact Study was done.

If I gave you permission to take a scalpel to my body and did not have a sound assurance that internal bleeding or infection from the incision would cause me lasting harm----I'd be a fool.

The DEP is acting just as foolishly.
