The city of Chicago wasted no time determining what restrictions it believes are appropriate. The city has already passed and put into effect a new ordinance, banning gun shops in the city, and limiting permit holders to one loaded weapon inside the home, excluding the porch, garage, or yard. (Chicagoans can own more guns, but they can't be loaded).
Will this new ordinance pass Constitutional muster? Two lawsuits have already been filed against it, so it's possible the Supreme Court may eventually weigh in again on guns in Chicago. Meanwhile, other communities – in Pennsylvania and across the nation – are contemplating what the Supreme Court's ruling means for their gun laws.
We'll explore the implications of the McDonald ruling, here and across the nation, with Dr. Joyce Malcolm, Professor of Law at George Mason University School of Law…and Greg Randall Lee, Professor of Law at Widener University in Harrisburg.
