And January 28th is an important date in the history of the space program. 24 years ago today, the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded less than two minutes after launch – a tragedy which stopped the space program in its tracks. We'll remember that day, other crises faced by the U.S. space program (including the Apollo 1 fire), and triumphs as well (including the Apollo 11 moon landing) as we listen back to Craig Cohen's expanded conversation with longtime NASA mission control flight director Gene Kranz. (Highlights of this conversation were originally broadcast on July 20th, 2009, on the 40th anniversary of the moon landing).
We encourage you to share your memories of the day of the Challenger disaster with us below.
