Last week, the COO of the Harrisburg School District proposed a number of dramatic program cuts to address a $6.8 million budget gap. Among the cuts proposed – next year's pre-k and kindergarten classes, and all district sports teams after the fall. While such cuts may be a worst case scenario, and may never actually come to fruition, that such cuts are even under consideration underscores the funding challenges some school districts face.
