In fact, where Pennsylvanians can buy beer hasn't changed much since the Great Depression. Then, as alcohol Prohibition was ending, laws were enacted with the intent to control the sales of alcoholic beverages. Today, as then, beer is sold by the case at beer distributors and by the six-pack at bars and taverns.
However, legislation is being considered in Harrisburg that would allow the sale of six-packs in grocery and convenience stores as well as beer distributors.
Distributors want to sell six-packs but they don't want other businesses to be allowed to sell beer by the case. Bars and taverns don't like any law that expands the number of locations where six-packs can be sold.
Many consumers say they just want convenience period. What do you think? Listen to Tuesday's Radio Smart Talk.
