Radio Smart Talk for Monday, September 19:
A recent poll conducted for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and the Associated Press indicates those surveyed overwhelmingly oppose the federal government having the power to require all Americans to buy health insurance. The poll conducted nationwide last month found 82% of Americans oppose what is one of the most significant aspects of the healthcare law passed two years ago.
The poll also found that faith in Congress has reached a new low with 57% saying they have little or no confidence in Washington lawmakers.
David Eisner, the president and CEO of the National Constitution Center will join us on Monday's Radio Smart Talk to discuss results of the poll that included questions on gay marriage, the U.S. Constitution, the media, and other American institutions.
Also as part of witf's on-going, multimedia Facing Cancer Together initiative, we'll focus on how music therapy and yoga are used to treat cancer patients.

people realize that the insurance companies are usurious.
If the government created a commonly held NON-PROFIT insurance fund everyone would buy into....I don't think people would have as much an issue with it.
People know when they're being rooked----the insurance industry is charging huge fees, raising fees, raising deductibles, and still finding ways to reduce coverage payout through loopholes in their policies.
A Medicare For All type insurance fund would be sensible, and far fairer than ACA's mandatory use of profit-driven insurance companies.
As a board certified music therapist, I can attest to the effects of music therapy. However, music therapy does so much more than relax and distract and help us sleep. It provides an opportunity for self-expression and for choice. MT is a way to express in a nonverbal modality particularly when words are inadequate. Music therapy interventions with cancer patients can provide an opportunity to reflect, to engage with family and friends in a meaningful manner, to increase breath support and control. Choosing songs, writing songs, engaging in active music making are just a few examples of using specific music therapy techniques.
I encourage anyone interested in finding more information about music therapy to go to musictherapy.org for more information.
Great thoughts about music therapy, Vicki! Music is a powerful thing! I will definitely check out your site that you shared. Here is a recent blog post on our website about the benefits of music: http://facingcancertogether.witf.org/expert-journal/music-increases-quality-of-life-for-cancer-patients-83011
