What to look for on Smart Talk Tuesday, April 12, 2016:

WITF's Smart Talk, along with the Harrisburg Regional Chamber and CREDC, are hosting several political debates this month before Pennsylvania's April 26th primary election.

Our goal is to inform voters and talk with the candidates about their priorities and positions on the most important issues facing Pennsylvania.

The two Democrats competing in the 15th State Senate District were invited to participate in a debate.  Incumbent Sen. Rob Teplitz agreed to join us and appears on Tuesday's program.  The challenger Alvin Taylor failed to agree.  The 15th District includes a portion of Dauphin County and all of Perry County.

Also, there's more controversy over how education funding should be distributed to Pennsylvania schools.  Gov. Tom Wolf wants schools districts that lost the most money over the past four years returned to 2010-2011 levels.  Republicans endorsed a funding formula recommended by a bipartisan commission to make funding more equitable.

As a result, many school districts are getting less than they thought while others are receiving more.

How are schools being impacted?  Nathan Mains of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association joins us on Smart Talk.
