What to look for on Smart Talk Wednesday, July 22, 2015:

What does the future hold for small, tuition-driven colleges?

The smaller schools have always been able to tout that they offered classes with fewer students and more one-on-one instruction.

However, today that may not be enough to attract students.

As tuitions increase, it becomes more difficult for many prospective students to attend a four-year college or university.

Public universities are often viewed as the best deals for a student because government subsidies allow them to keep their tuitions and fees lower.

In order to adapt to the changing marketplace, small schools have to think differently to compete.

Wednesday's Smart Talk features Dr. Barbara Mistick, the President of Wilson College in Chambersburg.  We will discuss what changes she is making at Wilson to make it more accessible to students.   Is it a model that could help other small colleges remain an attractive alternative to larger institutions?.

Also on Smart Talk, Dr. Mistick has co-written a book that will come out in November. Stretch: How to Future-Proof Yourself for Tomorrow's Workplace is meant to help individuals in any type of business learn how to adapt and remain relevant in an economic landscape that changes fast.
