What to look for on Smart Talk Friday, June 19, 2015:

It's enough to make one question any statistic quoted by government.

The Wolf Administration has changed how jobs related to the Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling industry are counted.

As a result, the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry says there were 89,314 people employed directly or indirectly in the gas drilling industry.  Of that number 30,000 are considered core oil and gas jobs.  The others were indirectly created or supported by the industry.

That's a big difference from the 240,000 jobs the Corbett Administration said were directly related or supported by the gas drilling industry.

StateImpact Pennsylvania reporter Marie Cusick, who has reported on questions about the jobs numbers for the past two years, appears on Friday's Smart Talk to explain what happened.

Also, June is Dairy Month and Pennsylvania's dairy farmers are not only talking about the benefits of dairy products and how much of an economic impact it has but are involved in a couple campaigns to help the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank put dairy products on the tables of needy people.

Dave Smith, the Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Dairymen's Association and Brad Peterson, the Director of Communications for the Food Bank join us on Friday's show.
