For over 25 years the Make-A-Wish Mothers Day Convoy through Lancaster and Ephrata has brought joy to Make-A-Wish children and families. This year more than 300 trucks are expected to participate in this event, which also includes food, games, and an auction.

What to look for on Smart Talk Friday, May 8, 2015:

WITF's Capitol Bureau Chief, Mary Wilson, checks in for her Capitol Week-in-Review.

Also, the Make-a-Wish Foundation is famous for providing children with life-threatening illness the opportunity to live their dreams for a day. The dream of one little boy, to ride in an 18-wheeler and talk on a CB radio, began a Lancaster County tradition in 1990: the Mother's Day Truck Convoy.

May 10 will mark the event's 26th year, include hundreds of trucks from all over the country, and raise money for Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Northern Delaware and Susquehanna Valley. Family friendly activities will include food, games, and an auction, and wish children will get to ride in the big rigs.

Dennis Heron, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish in Philadelphia joins us to discuss the Mother's Day event.

Each wish granted by Make-A-Wish is as unique and special as the child who requests it. Eleven-year-old Emilia Dameshek is a Ewing's Sarcoma patient whose wish took her to Hawaii this past December. Emilia and her mother Natalie join us on Friday's Smart Talk to discuss their experience with Make-A-Wish and Emilia's continuing battle with cancer.
