What to look for Smart Talk Thursday, March 20, 2014:
Congressman Charlie Dent appears on Thursday's Smart Talk to answer questions and discuss national and international issues.
The Republican represents the 15th District in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 15th District includes portions of Dauphin, Lebanon, and Berks Counties as well as Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
We'll ask Congressman Dent about his thoughts on Russia annexing Crimea, which was part of Ukraine, and whether the U.S. has any options to pressure or even punish Russia in wake of the takeover of Crimea.
Dent was one of about a dozen Republicans who supported an extension of unemployment benefits to the long-term jobless. A bipartisan group of U.S. Senators have proposed a plan to extend benefits for up to five months. That proposal faces an uncertain future in the Republican majority House.
Dent also supports construction of the Keystone XL pipeline -- saying it would create more than 42,000 jobs. Environmentalists want the pipeline scrapped.
Congressman Dent wants to designate employees who work a 30-hour week as full time to keep employers from reducing workers' hours in order to avoid paying health insurance benefits.
