What to look for on Smart Talk Wednesday, February 26th:
The Democratic gubernatorial primary race is in full swing with less than three months to go before Election Day this May. Two candidates, Ed Pawlowski and Max Myers, have exited the race in recent weeks. Another, Jack Wagner, has just entered the fray.
Franklin & Marshall College Poll Director Terry Madonna will join us to break down all the latest news heading into spring.
Later we'll discuss "Rocco's Law" with state Senator Matt Smith (D-Allegheny/Washington). The proposal would help protect K-9 officers by increasing the penalties for killing police animals.
It's being named after a K-9 officer named "Rocco" who was stabbed in the line of duty and later died, last month, in Pittsburgh.
Before the hour is over we'll dive into a discussion of the 'dog paddle.' The term is ubiquitous, and almost everyone has done some variation of the unrefined stroke in the water, but there has never been a scientific analysis of dogs' swimming patters -- until now.
Professor of Biology Frank Fish will join us to explain the latest research out of West Chester University.
He'll explain how the 'dog paddle' may hold the key to a better understanding of how marine mammals have evolved.
