What to look for on Smart Talk Monday, January 13, 2014:

Jennifer Storm is the new head of the Pennsylvania Office of Victim Advocate.  She brings with her years of experience serving and helping crime victims in her former position as director of Dauphin County's Victim/Witness program.  Ms. Storm also has first-hand experience as the victim of serious crime herself.

While those arrested and charged with committing crimes often get most of the attention both from the media and the public, crime victims sometimes are forgotten.  Some want it that way but there are others who need more.  They may need help dealing with their fear and anger or just want to know why a crime was committed against them or their loved one.

That's where the Office of Victim Advocate comes in.

The OVA has programs that provide a setting for victims and the offenders to speak, an inmate apology bank, victim awareness classes in prisons, represent victims before the Board of Probation and Parole, and notify victims when an offender is being released from prison or moved.

Jennifer Storm will appear on Monday's Smart Talk to explain her new role and the services provided by the Victim Advocate.

To contact the PA Office of the Victim Advocate call 800.563.6399.

    RHH in Carlisle emails:

    Excellent program!
A question for Jennifer Storm: In her experience, do victims generally tend to respond differently to juvenile offenders, as compared to adult offenders?
