What to look for on Smart Talk Thursday, January 2, 2014:
Lynn Shiner and Nancy Chavez have experienced the kind of pain and grief very few people can even fathom. Lynn and Nancy's children were murdered.
Lynn's young kids Jen and Dave were killed by their father, who then took his own life, on Christmas Day 1994.
Nancy's only child -- her daughter Randi Trimble -- was murdered in a bizarre plot hatched by Randi's husband and a friend of his to collect insurance money that would finance a horror movie.
Both women were devastated by the loss of their children, but both also became active to help victims of crime and their families.
Now they have written a book -- Stabbed in the Heart: Three Murdered Children, Two Resilient Mothers. The book can be ordered at RJDblessings.com.
Shiner and Chavez appear on Thursday's program along with co-author Nancy Eshelman, a veteran columnist with the Patriot-News.
