The state of employment in Pennsylvania

Written by Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer | Jun 1, 2012 10:46 PM

Radio Smart Talk for Monday, June 4:

Veterans returning home from overseas, students just out of college, and longtime career professionals are just some of the people who find themselves without jobs these days. Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate at 7.4 percent may be about half a point below the national average, but thousands still find themselves without work. The federal government has also cut back on extended benefits for those who’ve been unemployed for a long period of time.

On Monday’s Radio Smart Talk, we’ll look at the state of unemployment in the commonwealth. Bill Moulfair from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry will talk about the programs the state offers to help people find jobs across the commonwealth, such as Pennsylvania Career Link. Also, we’ll hear from Rosemary Marino, a private career counselor with Career Management Consultants in Harrisburg.

What are the industries that are hiring? Which ones aren’t? And how can job seekers fix up their resumes and cover letters so that they’re most attractive to potential employers? We're talking jobs on Radio Smart Talk.
