Iraq, Rate Caps, State Budget - Radio Smart Talk: Week In Review - Friday, July 24

Written by Scott LaMar, Radio Smart Talk Host/Executive Producer | Jul 24, 2009 2:00 PM

One our Week In Review edition of WITF's Radio Smart Talk, we placed a live phone call to Taji, Iraq, and talked with our own Scott Detrow. He's embedded with the Pennsylvania National Guard's 56th Stryker Brigade as part of WITF's Impact of War project.

I was also joined by PPL spokesman Dan McCarthy. The company has received clearance from state regulators to implement its "rate mitigation plan," which will allow customers to defer a portion of the higher electric bills they're expected to see once PPL's rate caps expire on January 1, 2010.

And with the budget talks heading into a legislative conference committee, we got an update on negotiations from WITF Radio Pennsylvania reporter Matt Paul.
