Your thoughts: Who's your pick for president so far?

Written by  witf.org

We're a little over a year away from the United States presidential election of 2012, and we recently asked our Facebook fans who they would vote for at this point. Ron Paul, a U.S. Representative from Texas running for the Republican nomination, was the resounding answer, with President Barack Obama close behind.

Community member Shawn explained:

"Ron Paul 2012, sound money, end the wars, release non-violent drug offenders, don't tax waitress tips, legalize industrial hemp for our farmers, doesn't take a Congressional pension, returns a portion yearly of his Congressional budget would make a great debate to see Dr. Ron Paul and sitting President Obama. Now if the establishment will allow this to happen is another thing."

Thus far, the following individuals have formally announced that they are running for president in 2012, filed as a candidate with the Federal Election Commission or formed an exploratory committee for a possible presidential run in 2012: Barack Obama, Randall Terry, Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain, Newt Gingrich, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Fred Karger, Andy Martin, Thaddeus McCotter, Jimmy McMillan, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Buddy Roemer, Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Jonathon Sharkey, Kent Mesplay and R. Lee Wrights.

We'd like to hear more of your responses to this question. Who's your pick for president so far? Post your response in the comments below, share your thoughts on our Facebook wall or Tweet your answer to us @witfnews.

Obama - I'm disappointed with many of the concessions he's made to the right but he's certainly better than any republican alternative.
