(York) -- A nearly six-decade old tradition will ring in Christmas day in the City of York. At 12:15 a.m. Sunday the whistles of the New York Wire Cloth Company will belt out Chirtmas carols. Whistle Master Don Ryan says he's had to make some changes after the whistles' steam boiler broke down. He switched to an air compressor last year. "I have some fine-tuning, but we're well on our way. The notes are clear, more defined, so you should be able to hear my mistakes a lot better," Ryan says. This is Ryan's 57-th year working on the tradition that his father started. The 15-to-20-minute concert has opened with "God Bless America" every year since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Ryan says the performance usually includes eight songs and closes with "Silent Night."
