Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Harrisburg) -- A York County man has been named the new chairman of the state Board of Probation and Parole. Governor Corbett has appointed Michael Potteiger of York Haven to the post. Potteiger, who's worked in the state's criminal justice system for more than 20 years, has served as the chief adult probation officer in Northumberland County and the director of Adult Probation and Parole Services in Dauphin County. He has also helped implement treatment programs for people with mental health issues and helped develop Dauphin County's veterans court. He currently serves as president of the County Adult Probation Chiefs Association of Pennsylvania. Potteiger, whose tenure begins Wednesday, will take over from acting chairman Lloyd White. White will remain on the agency's board.
