(Middlesex Township) -- A decorated World War II and D-Day veteran is scheduled to celebrate his 90th birthday tomorrow in a memorable way. Richard "Red" Falvey of the 101st Airborne's 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment will complete a tandem skydive jump at the Army Heritage and Education Center in Middlesex Township, Cumberland County. The veteran will jump with Sergeant First Class Mike Elliott, a member of the Army's Golden Knights team who's performed tandem jumps with former president George H.W. Bush. Falvey says he believes his late wife will watch over the pair as they skydive. "I received my wings on Christmas Day, 1942," he says. "I had them engraved. My initials are on the top, 'RWF, to Leona,' and the next words were 'forever yours.' That's the reason I'm wearing them. She's going to be with Mike and I tomorrow." Falvey has made 25 previous jumps, including one in Normandy to mark the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion in 1944. The veteran was awarded the Bronze Star for his efforts in the war and worked as a railroad conductor until his retirement almost 30 years ago.
