World's oldest running car auctioned off in Hershey

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Hershey) -- The world's oldest running motor car has been auctioned off in the midstate for more than $4.5 million. The 1884 De Dion Bouton et Trepardoux Dos-a-Dos Steam Runabout was sold in Hershey Friday evening at a car auction hosted by auction house RM Auctions. The car had previously had four owners in its 127-year history and participated in the world's first automobile race in 1887. It was originally estimated to fetch about $2 million at auction. The event at the Hershey Lodge featured more than 115 vintage cars and assorted auto memorabilia.
