Water conservation advisory lifted for thousands of customers

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Wyomissing) -- Pennsylvania American Water today lifted the mandatory conservation notice that has been in place since Thursday for its East Shore customers. The company issued the advisory due to flooding on the Swatara Creek, which affected operations at the G.C. Smith Water Treatment Plant in Hershey.

Pennsylvania American Water emphasized that the water quality continues to meet all regulatory standards, and no boil water advisory is required for its customers.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience and are thankful for their cooperation during this emergency,” said Pennsylvania American Water Vice President of Operations William Kelvington.

The conservation notice is lifted for approximately 18,000 Pennsylvania American Water customers in the following communities:

  • Derry Township
  • Conewago
  • Londonderry
  • Annville
  • North Annville
  • South Annville
  • North Londonderry
  • Palmyra
  • South Hanover
  • South Londonderry
  • West Hanover

Customers might experience cloudy water for a short period. You should run the faucets for a few minutes until the water runs clear. For more information, visit Pennsylvania American Water Web site at www.pennsylvaniaamwater.com, under the Alert Notifications section, or contact the customer service center at 1-800-565-7292.
