(Harrisburg) -- Two years after the commonwealth eliminated funding for a midstate school for veterans' children, an auction will be held to sell off items that were used at the facility over the last couple of decades. The Department of General Services is expected to hold the event at the Scotland School for Veterans' Children in Greene Township, Franklin County at the end of the month. Department spokesman Troy Thompson says many of the objects are antiques. "We're looking at a number of items that are going to be available for educational and institutional equipment, such as lathes and milling machines, classroom, cottage, and infirmary furniture, athletic equipment, school supplies, vintage movie projectors, and a number of other items," he says. The school's alumni association also maintains a museum on the grounds of the former school that houses trophies, pictures, and other memorabilia. The state has not yet sold the Scotland School property. Thompson encourages anyone interested in attending the auction to preregister for the event.
