(Harrisburg) -- The American Red Cross is helping the thousands of midstate residents who've left their homes due to Tropical Storm Lee. The organization has set up dozens of shelters across the state, including facilities in Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York counties. Kathy Smyser, spokeswoman for the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley, says many residents have evacuated in anticipation of flooding that's yet to come. "Yesterday, our concern was with the small streams that flood first and street flooding," she says. "Now, we're gearing up for the real show: the Susquehanna River flooding, the Conewago Creek, and the big flooding episodes that we expect tonight through whenever." Some shelter locations include John Harris High School in Harrisburg, the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Lebanon, and the Manchester Township Municipal Building in York. Smyser says the agency will help with cleanup even when the flood water recedes in a few days.

The photo above was taken at 10am 9/8/2011. It's the bridge by Moores Mtn. Road and 114 (Lisburn). I just went by the same bridge on the way home at 6:15pm and the space under the bridge is about 1/3 larger...meaning right now, the Yellow Breeches has been receding. I will be anxious to see it tomorrow morning.
