Swatara Wastewater Treatment Plant calls on residents to conserve water

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Harrisburg) -- More Dauphin County residents are now urged to conserve water. Operators of the Swatara Wastewater Treatment Plant say residents of Swatara Township, Lower Paxton Township, and Hummelstown Borough should save water and refrain from using the sanitary wastewater system as much as possible.

Operators also ask residents to refrain from discharging anything other than sanitary wastewaster into the system.

Because the flood-swollen Swatara Creek reached historically high levels on Thursday and Friday, the plant was completely underwater and incapacitated.
