(Harrisburg) -- The votes are just about split in the only two statewide contests in yesterday’s election. In the Superior Court race, Democrat David Wecht of Allegheny County surpassed Cumberland County Republican Vic Stabile, with Wecht netting 54 percent of the vote. The Commonwealth Court seat will go to Bucks County Republican Anne Covey, who beat Democrat Kathryn Boockvar, also of Bucks County, with 52 percent of the vote. Those tallies came by midnight, with about 98 percent of more than nine-thousand precincts reporting. The 15-member Superior Court hears civil and criminal appeals, while the nine-member Commonwealth Court hears government-related appeals. The terms for both court justices is 10 years.
