Storm affects dozens of homes in one York County community

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Goldsboro) -- The rising waters of the Susquehanna River as well as Fishing Creek have reached the doorsteps of dozens of homes in one northern York County community. South York Street in Goldsboro was partially covered due to the flooding, which also backed up nearby Fishing Creek. Goldsboro resident Wilbert Wyrick, who's lived in the same home for more than thirty years, says the recent storm is not as devastating as Hurricane Agnes was back in 1972. "No, well, we're close to it. It was up to the railroad rails and the railroad tracks, that's how high it was." Wyrick says his neighbors have been storing items in their garages to protect them from the flood waters. The American Red Cross will close its York County shelters at the Eastern York Middle School in Wrightsville and the Manchester Township Municipal Building in York this evening since need for the facilities has passed.
