State Representative Scott Perry says he'll run for Congress

Written by  Megan Lello, witf Reporter and Producer

(Harrisburg) -- A midstate lawmaker is officially announcing his bid for Congress. Republican State Representative Scott Perry of Cumberland and York counties says he'll seek election for the 4th Congressional District seat. Perry was first elected to the state House in 2007 and serves as the secretary for the Labor and Industry Committee. He's also a colonel in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and has served in both Bosnia and Iraq. The news comes on the heels of Republican Congressman Todd Platts' announcement to retire after 12 years serving the 19th District. Under a new redistricting plan that will take effect next year, the 19th will be renamed the 4th District and will include Adams and York counties, eastern Cumberland County, and the city of Harrisburg.

Based on the multiple encounters I have had with Rep Perry I can not imagine there is a more honorable or ethical man who could serve as a Congressman or in any other political office.
