(Harrisburg) -- State Police are now operating the commonwealth's Homeland Security office. The agency had been a part of the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency. PEMA spokesman Cory Angell says the move should allow both Homeland Security and the State Police to share information more easily. "A lot of what they do is along the lines of intelligence work," he says of the Homeland Security office. "Being over with the State Police, where they have the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center, and under that one, unified command under the State Police, it makes sense, and it's a move that we support here at PEMA." State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan will serve as the governor's Homeland Security Advisor. The Homeland Security Office had been folded into PEMA by former Governor Ed Rendell.
