(Harrisburg) -- Flu season has arrived in Pennsylvania. So, the state Health Department is recommending flu shots for all Pennsylvanians over six months of age. Those in high risk groups, such as pregnant women, health care workers, or those with chronic medical conditions, are especially urged to get vaccinated. Acting state Physician General, Doctor Stephen Ostroff, says now is the perfect time to get a flu shot. "Right now, flu activity in Pennsylvania is at quite low levels," he says. "It generally starts picking up in November, especially after Thanksgiving." Ostroff says supplies of vaccines are available at more sites than ever before this year, so people shouldn't have any problems getting a shot. He says this year's vaccine protects against three types of flu.
