Slated mosque move faces opposition from some neighboring residents

(Lebanon) -- A mosque's scheduled move in a midstate city is drawing protests from neighbors. The Lebanon Valley Mosque is slated to move to a facility on Florence Street in Lebanon. But some residents say increased traffic in the area could potentially be dangerous to the children that live in the neighborhood. Mosque president Irshad Jaffri says he hasn't seen many children in the area, so he's unsure why there's concern surrounding the move. "I don't know the inside of the people, you know, but the outside behavior, it's whatever you can predict. The inside of the people, I don't know," he says. "Maybe there are some good people, you know, whatever they are. Some of the good people, they say there's no problem at all. Some of them are saying there is a problem." The mosque must submit a floor plan to the city's zoning officer before it can officially move into the building. Jaffri says the mosque faced opposition when it tried to move last year as it could not pay for the land development plan the city required.
