Shoppers urged to donate, recycle plastic bags

Written by  Megan Lello and Radio Pennsylvania

(Greensburg) -- An environmental organization is calling on Pennsylvanians to recycle their plastic bags. Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful has launched a program called "A Bag's Life" that sets up drop-off locations for plastic bags at 30 retailers and 1,400 locations across the state. Group president Shannon Reiter says grocery bags aren't the only types of bags that can be recycled. "We can also recycle newspaper bags, bread bags, product wrap," she says. "So it's not just about the bags, it's about all this other film, dry cleaning bags, that can also go in those bins." Reiter says these bags can be recycled to create decking, park benches, or new bags. Visit the "A Bag's Life" website to find participating retailers.
