Residents can use aerial images to help assess flood damage

Written by  witf.org

(Harrisburg) -- The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has made aerial images collected between December 2009 and April 2010 available to the public to use in assessing flood damage resulting from Tropical Storm Lee. The images, which can be downloaded from the Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access website, cover Bradford, Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna, and Wyoming counties. The department's Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey is responsible for a statewide digital base map, known as PAMAP, in partnership with other state agencies, counties, the federal government, and other government entities. PAMAP provides access to road, elevation, boundaries, hydrography, and other data and aerial photography at a scale ten times better than what was previously available through existing topography maps.
