(Harrisburg) -- A new report ranks 11 potential casino sites in Pennsylvania based on their revenue potential. At the top of the list are southern York County and Reading. State Treasurer Rob McCord says revenue from casinos is growing, but the commonwealth should move cautiously in awarding the remaining two licenses. "When you take a look at eastern Pennsylvania, demand and supply seem to be sort of meeting each other. When you've added demand, supply's sort of caught up with it," he says. "When you move to western Pennsylvania, you move from maturation to potential saturation." However, the two licenses are reserved for a yet-to-be-built racetrack and one that must be in Philadelphia and two resort casinos are pending. McCord presented the consultant's report to the Senate Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee. Estimates show a casino in York County could bring in $154 million in net gaming revenue for the state, while Reading would generate $125 million. The Democratic Treasurer says the ten casinos in operation have generated more than $5 billion since the first one opened in 2006.
