(Harrisburg) -- A central Pennsylvania political activist is urging some state lawmakers to raise the issue of the commonwealth's new Congressional map in court. Gene Stilp, founder of the political group Taxpayers and Ratepayers United Association, has written to lawmakers who opposed the law that was recently signed by Governor Corbett. Republican lawmakers have drawn up the law, which creates new districts for the state's 19 U.S. House seats. Stilp says opponents should challenge the map in court because of the new gerrymandered districts. "Many of the Congressional districts throughout Pennsylvania are completely gerrymandered," he says. "Pennsylvania has one of the most gerrymandered Congressional maps in the entire United States, so this should end up in court." Stilp points to the new seventh Congressional district, which includes parts of Berks and Lancaster counties, as one of the most gerrymandered districts in the country.
