According to PennDOT, widespread and devastating floods across the eastern third of Pennsylvania will make driving to the Penn State game extremely challenging, particularly for fans traveling from Harrisburg and points east.

PennDOT is advising motorists that currently Interstate 81 northbound in Schuylkill County remains closed but the Department is hopeful to have it opened late today. Also, 22/322 remains closed at the Clarks Ferry Bridge and Dauphin Narrows north of Harrisburg and PennDOT is not optimistic that the route will be open anytime soon. Additionally hundreds of secondary roads remain closed.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to www.511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions on interstates and other major routes. The 511PA website received more than 5 million hits by 2 p.m. yesterday so users to the site may experience slower response times.

PennDOT will broadcast current roadway information in the State College area on its Highway Advisory Radio System at 1640 AM. The Department will also have roving patrols on certain routes to assist motorists with emergencies.

Travelers should prepare for and plan accordingly for lengthy delays this weekend.
