Penn State Faculty Senate split on "no confidence" in Board of Trustees

Written by  Emily Reddy/WPSU

(University Park) -- Members of the Penn State Faculty Senate are split on whether to allow a vote of "no confidence" against the university’s Board of Trustees. While the measure doesn't have enough support to proceed at this point, it will be considered.Tony Ambrose from the College of Medicine says it's time to replace the entire board. "I’d like to make a motion, or whatever the right thing is," he says. "First of all, that the faculty Senate send to the Board of Trustees a vote of no-confidence, ask for their resignations and constitute a Board of Trustees that is lean, clean and probably under these circumstances, pretty mean." The vote on the no-confidence measure will be held at the Faculty Senate’s January 24th meeting. Last month, the body rejected Penn State’s special committee and asked for an independent panel whose chair and majority members have never been affiliated with Penn State. Since then, former FBI director Louis Freeh was appointed to head the Special Committee.
