(Harrisburg) -- A number of state Emergency Operations Centers will remain activated through the September 11th anniversary this weekend. The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Center says the central, statewide EOC will keep crucial emergency personnel from various state departments on duty. The one nearest to the Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County will also remain activated through the weekend. Cory Angell, PEMA’s spokesman, says preparations are being made for a variety of potential threats. "We are ramping our level of readiness and our emergency operation centers. We have been working and coordinating with a lot of different agencies, both state and federal. We feel confident that we’re able to prepare or we are prepared for any eventuality that might come our way," Angell says. He adds PEMA is not just monitoring events related to September 11th, but all kind things this weekend - including the Penn State-Alabama matchup at Beaver Stadium. He says people should be on guard for suspicious activity, and report anything unusual to local law enforcement or state police.
