Maps of preliminary PA Senate and House redistricting plan

Written by  Mary Wilson

The commonwealth's legislative redistricting panel has voted three to two in favor of a preliminary plan offered by Republican caucus leaders for new state House and Senate Districts.

Democrats are protesting they hadn’t had enough time to examine the maps, which they say they saw for the first time right before the vote.

But, House Majority Leader Mike Turzai says Democrats have repeatedly asked for delays, and this time is no different.

Under the proposal, the Allegheny County state Senate seat held by Democrat Jim Brewster would be moved to Monroe County.

Four House seats, two Republican and two Democrat, would move under the plan -- to the central part and eastern parts of the state.

A public hearing will be held in Harrisburg on November 18.
