PA National Guard troops could see pay raise for state service

Written by  Megan Lello and Radio Pennsylvania

(Harrisburg) -- A state lawmaker is calling for members of the Pennsylvania National Guard to receive increased pay when they're ordered into state service by the governor. Republican Doug Reichley, who represents parts of Berks and Lehigh counties, has written a bill that would raise the pay of members from $75 a day to $100 a day. Reichley says it's been a while since the rate's been changed. "The minimum pay for state-activated National Guard troops to be increased has not been done so for the last 15 years," he says. The House Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee passed a unanimous vote in favor of the move. The bill will now make its way to the Senate.
