(Fort Indiantown Gap) -- The Pennsylvania National Guard continues to assist people affected by flooding in the midstate and in northeast PA. A guard spokesman at Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County says there have been about 100 individual missions completed by guard members since they were deployed to flood zones last week. The nearly 1,800 guard members on flood duty have helped direct traffic and perform search and rescue missions across the state. Guard members have helped evacuate or save nearly 500 civilians so far. A spokesman says many of the soldiers have seen combat in the Middle East, and they're grateful to be serving at home. He asked for the public's continued cooperation with guard units as flood cleanup continues.
