(Harrisburg) -- A tweak to a state proposal to change teacher evaluations would make the new rubric apply not just to public schools, but also public charter and cyber charter schools. Republican state Representative Mike Fleck of Huntingdon County offered the amendment. He says it makes sense that any new scoring system for teachers should be used in all public schools receiving public dollars. "I don’t think you can pick and choose what you want to do and what you don’t want to do when it comes to you know, something as critical as teacher evaluation overall," he says. The House Education Committee approved the measure, which now goes to the full House. The bill’s sponsor, Republican Representative Ryan Aument (AW-ment) of Lancaster County, says the debate isn’t going anywhere. He says he expects another amendment to be offered to make the measure once again apply only to public schools and not charter or cyber schools.
